Binary Presents: Short Circuit

Short Circuit

Resonator’s Favorite Binary hit us up with some tracks a little while back by their newly re-named artist Short Circuit, and it would a shame for me to horde them any longer.

Short Circuit is the artist formerly known as On Off On, but lost a fight to the death with a trumpet player and was forced to resurrect as… well Short Circuit. To celebrate, we’ve been hit up with a new track and some quality remixes. He’s working on an EP for Binary Records slated for a summer release, so this is just a preview of what’s to come.

“Music Machine” is a great driving track, suitable for the dark gritty hours of the night when people are in the throes of dance. I would best describe it as…. well hard techy trance. Whatever. It doesn’t sound like French men farting, so if you gave Shaun enough uppers I’m sure he would dance his ass off to it and not even realize (hopefully you don’t have to do that with your dancefloor!)

Short Circuit - “Music Machine” (320)

“Nothing on the TV” is the polar opposite of “Music Machine” its a catchy, bouncy little synth-house track that’s great for your personal collection, and most likely won’t get the heads rolling on the dance floor.

Short Circuit Feat. LexiconDon - Nothings on the TV (Turn the Radio on)” (320)

On the remix front, he he did a remix of “Taken Away”. Sure there are lots of them, but Binary says its pretty damn good. I say its pretty damn good. So guess what? Its probably pretty damn good. Take a way a little of the sidechaining, bring out the melody some more and you’ve got a great original track that doesn’t need the digitalism vocals to front it.

Digitalism - “Taken Away (Short Circuit Remix)” (320)

And, for kicks, here’s a nice chopped and glitched remix he did of an old classic”

Stardust - “Music Sounds Better With You (Short Circuit Remix)” (320)

So we sure and check out the Binary Collection if you haven’t already (hint: here’s some more posts about them) and gave them a hearty res HELO.

The Kids Are Radioactive

The Kids Are RADIOACTIVE

Binary hit us up with some more fantastic tracks for your listening pleasure –this time from up and comer: The Kids are RADIOACTIVE!

He’s just a wee little lad of 17, but he’s making huge waves over in the LA dance scene. His tracks are fun, funky and dancey and if they don’t find their way into your sets going forward: you should be ashamed. ASHAMED I say! They’re house tracks that dabble some into the kids-love-electro sound, but end up being super bouncey with this propensity to get caught in your head. So get ready for not 1, not 2, but 3 great tracks to start your Thursday Friday (Telefon Tel Aviv trumped me).

“Higher” is my favorite of the bunch; it embodies all of the adjectives above and is catchy as fuck.

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

The Kids Are RADIOACTIVE - “Higher (Feat LexiconDon)”

“Cult Classic” is a bit more four-to-the-floor –more driving and less funky fresh. Great track to drop on a dance floor.

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

The Kids Are RADIOACTIVE - “Cult Classic”

“Time Warp” is just a great all around track. It may not be as dancey as “Higher” or “Cult Classic” but its super fun and a worthy addition to your collection. Great driving hi-hats to get you into it.

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

The Kids Are RADIOACTIVE - “Time Warp”

Be sure to leave him some Resonator Lovin’ @ the RADIOACTIVE MySpace and to visit the Biniary Crew’s MySpace as well to check out more of their great talent. Not enough? Check out our previous posts about the Binary Crew, or visit their blog for non-stop updates.

Its a Post About NightWaves! AKA We’re Not Dead (But Maybe We Are? [Kitten is Still Dead though, No Wait She’s Flying!])

NightWaves hit us up with some slick material after my Fabian post a while back, and now I’m getting around to sharing the love with you all (And there was much rejoicing!)

Well, first some background. NightWaves hails from LA and aim to bring back more lush, synthed out dance out melodies (and less RAWR RAWR DANCE GRGGLR Bangers –or whatever it is that Shaun calls them). Self described as :

a walk down the beach at sunset with the Pacific ocean crashing right next to you

they definitely have a discod-out, almost-french-house-jam style going on –good tracks for evenings and afternoons alike

“Even Money” is one of those tracks that treats you to an unexpected wanna get up and dance feeling after about 3/4’s of the build up. Now for those of you with no patience, I guess that sucks, but for everyone else its the making of a good track to use in a set!

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

NightWaves - “Even Money”

“Blue Dress” is just as funky, in the same vein and just as much fun.

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

NightWaves - “Blue Dress”

Since these style tracks work best in mix form (maybe you remember my May mix? Or that I even mix? Because I forget that sometimes) here’s quality 50 min mix of Binary and Valerie artists abound!

NightWaves Presents: The Dreamwave Hour

Binary Presents: Fabian

Fabian

Fabian comes at us with some solid, hard hitting, in your face, gritty dance floor chunes. Unlike most artist right now, hard does not equal fidget (thank fking god!) so you get to actually listen to these all the way through without having to skip the verses!

He’s the newest artist on Binary -an LA based family of musicians- who I beleive was started by the NightWaves kids.

“Alpha” is my favorite of the two –slick little lead in, and some killer hooks to keep the energy up mid way through the night.. I expect the kids will enjoy this one.

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Fabian - “Alpha” (V2)

“J4W” is of an equal temperament, but I feel -in general- isn’t as dance floor friendly in most cases. However, those of you of the hard techno persuasion will most likely find this one to be far superior.

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Fabian - “J4W” (192)

You can check out Fabian via his MySpace, and also more from Binary via their blog, or their facebook page.

Also, come join our new Facebook Group as well.. we promise we won’t abandon it like our MySpace***
