HAI GUYS!
I totally didn’t win the Grum remix contest (oh wells!) but here’s my remix for your listening enjoyment (hopefully). Congrats to The American Dream Team for their winning entry. Be sure to check out Finger on the Pulse or Palmsout for the full details and other runners up.

Their next remix contest offering is for Boston’s Passion Pit. I got to play with these guys when I was in Boston in January and they were great; the crowd totally loved them. They’re kinda blowing up now, so its only appropriate they make into in this remix contest collection.

The Finger on the Pulse crew are currently holding a remix contest for GRUM’s latest track: “Woah”. You can download the parts here so, you know, you should get on that. Deadline is Oct 28th! Its in support of his first US appearance, Nov 1st at Death By Audio (map).
Grum is a Leeds based producer/deejay who has found his way into “hacks’ personal best of” during the course of this year. I posted the Edwin Van Cleef Remix of “Heartbeats” previously (so check that if you haven’t), but here’s more fun, dance fueled tracks that should prove to you that the Nov 1st show is totally going to be the dog’s bollocks.
Here’s the orginal of “Woah”, to get a feel for what this remix contest is all about!

Grum tackled Moulinex’s recent track “Breakchops” (you know how much I heart the Disco Texas Crew) and its totally dance-floor worthy:

Here’s another remix he did, this time for Anoraak out of the Valerie Camp. He keeps the lush soundscape qualities of the original, while adding some “umf” in the form of a chunky bassline and some beefed up synth and drum action:

And, to round things out, here’s Damage’s take on Grum’s “Go Back”. I’m surprised I never heard this track in more sets, personally. It verges on the border of dark and nasty, while keeping things just straight enough to grab the attention of everyone: chip action during the buildup, grungy bass lines, and a good dose of chopping and screwing.

So, to summarize: Download. Remix. Submit. Dance.

If you haven’t heard Edwin Van Cleef before.. you’re in for a treat (And no, not the Edwin Van Cleef that used to own people in the WoW beta –he one-shot my lock at the time ;_;). He’s slowly been sneaking up as one of my favorite producers and remixers to look out for. I haven’t posted him up before (always meant to, but just dropped the ball..) but he hit us up with his new remix this week, and now I can make a relevant post about him.
Yay!
His latest is a synth-bliss remix of DatA (who, if you’re following along at home, has gotten some Res Lovin’ in the past). Its very much a sunrise/sunset kinda track and gets people unassumingly bouncing along to the beat. Man, so the track came on again as I’m proofing my post, and I’m digging it more and more –totally a track you’ll need to play a few times before you pass judgment.

His remix of “Heartbeats” is also one of the best remixes of this year, IMO. Its a about a half a year old or so now? But I still rock out to it all the time and always get people coming up to me asking what it is.
Just.
Stellar.

As an added bonus, here’s some original production work as well. It hearkens back some to that Kavinsky sound, but “Tracer” throws in a bit of chip with a bit more of a funkier bassline then what you normally get when that comparison is made.

Also, here’s his track “Radius”.. its a bit similiar to “Tracer”, but it ups the chip synths a bit and is a lot more trancey.

So sail on over to his MySpace and leave a hot one.. and remember: don’t fuck up the pull!
