Buffet Libre Presents: Rewind Part 1

Buffet Libre Presents: Rewind Part 1

The crew over at Buffet Libre have been assembling this collection for quite some time now and they just announced it is finally complete. Sixty quality covers/remixes of your favorite (or obscure) 80s tracks all available for free in one nicely wrapped package. So what does that mean? Well it means that good ol’ hacks here has been listening all 60 tracks on repeat trying to pick out my favorites. I’ve tried to stick to some that aren’t littering hype… but no guarantees.

Dragonette takes the ZZ top sound and destroys it with an almost monotone slathering take on the rocking original. Something about this just screams sexy to me. And yes I’m a dude talking about girls singing about sharp dressed man and just referred to that as “sexy”.

Another dance floor stormer, Mr Miyagi tears it up. They did an awesome klaxons remix back int he day, and also put out a really solid mix that had “lasers” in the title (so you know it had to be awesome)

Kinda proggy, kinda trancey, but overall totally solid.

All the rest of the individual tracks can be download from buffetlibre.net (completely free) or as a bundled zip file from MEGA Upload. Its worth the download to just queue them all up one day and just absorb all the different takes on everything.

Much thanks to the Buffet Libre Crew! I’ll provide a full track list below the cut.

Xinobi + Moulinex + Disco Texas = Love

Disco Texas

Both Xinobi and Moulinex have been personal favorites for quite some time now. I’ve rocked out tracks by both of them on more than five occasions and they just don’t seem to get old. Well there’s good news for us (or for me; screw you guys if you don’t like ‘em) since they finally launched their label this weekend: Disco Texas

The first release from it is Xinobi’s “Day Off” and its a driving disco-infused french house rumble the walls and tear down the house track. Its available via Beatport and is totally worth the couple of dollars. Honestly kids? I went out and purchased because that’s just how awesome they are. I’ll be posting 128s that that are floating around for listening purposes, but you should really do your self the favor and get the 320s.
