Photography. Videos. Drinking. Dancing. Tonight starting 8pm @ East Side Lounge. Last time was a blast and was absolutely packed so be sure and show up and take part in the action.
To celebrate this (and the fact that Guns Babes & Lemonade is available for preview on Muscles’ MySpace), here’s the awesome remix Christopher Robin did of Muscles from the archive!
Thanks everyone who tuned into WREK for The Mobius this past Weds, it was a blast as usual. I’ve condensed that last hour into a cd-friendly download for everyone –so listen and enjoy!
And as special treat, here’s the tracklist with direct downloads for some highlighted tunes… PLUS I’ve included some other material hype machine decided it didn’t want to index from earlier in the week (yes, I’m a hit whore).
Ok, I’ll readily admit I’m a bit behind the game on this one, but I’ve been so focused solely on dance tracks that I’ve been lacking in my rock department. Well The Wombats have released a single from their upcoming LP and I’ve seriously had it on repeat for the past week
Its such a catchy track with throw back lyrics that I find should almost be cheesy, but for some reason are perfectly appropriate. The track pretty much invokes long haired greasy hipsters thrashing around in mock-moshpit trash fashion. I’m totally a fan and I hope you will be as well (if you aren’t already, you well informed internets savvy peoples!).
Not sure if this is even seeing a US release (to tired to do my research atm) but you can pre-order from the UK HMV site or from other locations listed on their website
And here’s the first song I heard by them that sparked this mini little love affair back almost a year ago now.
What do you need to know about it? Well Cole says “We got drunk in the studio, fucked around and played lots of new exclusives.”. Think that just about sums it up. Peep the tracklisting here.
If you missed it, here’s the awesome remix Cole did of Souja Boy:
We’ve got some slick tunes coming our way from N0mad today.
The first is a dance floor edit of a sick track by Onira entitled “Xiao Xiao” (and yes, that’s the song title and not the band). While the original what I would call a dance metal track complete with nasty guitar riffs, audio pans and chopped up beats, its a actually bit to hectic to dance to. N0mad takes all that and wraps it all up in a fluid dance floor package making it less likely everyone will look as if their having a seizure while dancing to it (well, as much as the hipsters can not look like they’re having one).
As an added bonus, here’s a solid n0mad remix of Mr. Oizo’s “Patrick 122″. Its a got a flavour spiked with skool techno meets and a touch of house with a dash of nasty.
You can be sure as hell I’m going to find a way to mix this into a set soon. And by soon I mean tomorrow because I’m deejaying again for The Mobius on WREK between 7-9 (totally shameless plug).
Trixie saw Ed and Tom this past weekend up in NYC and couldn’t stop texting with how awesome they were (I GET IT ALREADY, STOP BLOWING UP MY PHONE WOMAN!) so as an added bonus, here’s “No Need” a bonus track found on the Japanese release of We Are The Night
Anyway, look for more by Segue in the future as I hear they’ve got a label deal in the works. Also be sure to stop by their MySpace and give them some props for this little bit of aural acid delight.
ATL’s own Gorilla Zoe will be dropping his debut album today, “Welcome to the Zoo.” Now me, I don’t know too much about Gorilla Zoe, other than he is Young Jeezy’s replacement in Boyz N Da Hood, and that his role there is way fitting, seeing as how he sounds damn near just like Jeezy. But I was driving home earlier tonight and heard this little gem on V-103….
This is pop perfection. I know, I know, the rest of the album sounds pretty much like every other Atlanta/dirty south fare, but this track is gold. New rule: let’s have more exquisitely produced goodness like this coming out of our fair city because, goddammit, we’ve all heard the other stuff to death. I know it’s going to be a rarity though, since this track is the equivalent to a drum n’ bass pantywetter, and you just don’t hear a lot of good pantywetters among all the WOMPWOMPWOMP typical dn’b torrent of bullshit out there. I’m saying it now though, this is the standout track of the album.
Resonator Favorite Rex the Dog comes storming out with a new release on Kitsune this month. Officially released on the 10th, Circulate is wicked little number of techno-pop synth bleepy goodness. Its a 2 track release with “Circulate” on the A-Side, and “Italian Blond” taking up the b-side –both quality and both the Rex The Dog sound that we just absolutely love.
Not gonna drop the original on ya (You should just go out and purchase it) but here’s a JBAG Edit to whet your appetite:
You may purchase “Circulate” from any of the following: Juno Records Turn Table Lab Kitsune’s frustrating as hell shoppe (seriously, its the “featured new release” yet you can’t click on it, you have to scroll through the hard to read interface before finding it half-way down the list).
Our good friend Rick Sierra just sent over a live set from his recorded down in Orlando. Its full on progressive house with a plenty of diva-house vocals to make you wish you looked good in drag… well almost.
No tracklist but I’m sure I could track one down if needed. Here’s what Rick has to say:
This is a set that I performed LIVE in Orlando in July of this year.
Sorry that it took so long to get it ready for posting. The person who recorded the entire night is always recording parties in the area, so it took him some time.
This set was played from midnight to 1am, hence the harder banging tracks.
I did play earlier in the night for another hour and I played more chill stuff since I was opening and had the chance to get used to the equipment at the club.
The entire set was played on 2 Pioneer CDJ 1000’s and a SWEET Urei knob mixer. I had not played on one of theose mixers in years and it reminded me of how good they are.
